Owen Almighty brews up excitement for the Kentucky Derby with Oregon’s Dutch Bros ties

EUGENE, Ore. — A horse with Oregon ties is expected to hit the track in the 151st Kentucky Derby this weekend.

Owen Almighty, a striking 3-year-old bay colt, is one of 20 horses expected to enter the 2025 Kentucky Derby on May 3 at Churchill Downs.

Owen Almighty is owned by Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing LLC, which just happens to be owned by Travis Boersma. Boersma is co-founder and executive chairman of Oregon’s popular chain Dutch Bros Coffee, which was started in Grants Pass in 1992, according to the the Lexington Herald Leader…
