Food For Lane County holds food drive for national Stamp Out Hunger day

EUGENE, Ore. – Food For Lane County is preparing for national “Stamp Out Hunger” day. Residents of Lane County can leave perishables, proteins, condiments and more out by their mailboxes for volunteers to pick up and bring to food pantries.

“It really is the easiest food drive you can take part in all year because you don’t even have to leave your house!” said Dawn Marie Woodward, a Food For Lane County employee.

With federal budget cuts beginning to effect local nonprofits, Food for Lane County is expecting to lose approximately 1.2 million pounds of food that are usually provided from federal donations.

This comes at an inconvenient time for food pantries, as the summer months are particularly crucial for food donations…
