County’s building fees are going up

EUGENE: Following a unanimous vote last Tuesday, Lane County residents can expect to see building fees increase 21% over the next three years. The county’s board of commissioners’ vote came after reviewing reports that indicated the land management division is facing a $1.2 million shortfall.

Language in the County’s 2022-2024 Strategic Plan called for investing “in the Land Management Division to ensure adequate and sustainable staffing levels and resources are available to be responsive and agile in meeting current and future housing needs and customer service expectations.”

The new fees are scheduled to begin on July 1, will include a seven percent (7%) increase in base permit, electrical, plumbing, and other construction fees. The seven percent permit fee increases for emergency RV permits, ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) permits, and building permits for manufactured homes in manufactured home parks won’t take effect until July 1, 2028…
