VIDA, Ore. – A former McKenzie High School athlete enjoyed a special moment earlier this week as after losing nearly everything during the 2020 Holiday Farm Fire Samantha Winningham was reunited with her letterman jacket.
Roughly one year ago, Winningham’s Aunt Melanie set a plan in motion to have’s Winningham’s jacket remade. And during all that time she kept it a secret. On Tuesday, however, the cat was out of the bag, as Winningham was surprised by family and friends at the Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District where she volunteered during the Holiday Farm Fire… where she still volunteers to this day.
“Was like, that is exactly one of the three things I probably would’ve replaced if I, you know, could,” Winningham said. “And then I just saw people that are, have been real pillars of both my life post-fire and my school career. And I was, like, wow. That was, it was huge.”…
