Lowell City Council meeting 6/20/25: Beautification Day hindered by weather || CA contract up for approval

LOWELL — Tuesday’s Lowell city council meeting was a short and sweet one. The mayor, city administrator and councilors were able to comb through the agenda at pace and consolidate the meeting in just under 40 minutes – a possible record.

The city’s Beautification Day, which was held on May 17, also known as park clean up, was not as flooded with residents as the council had hoped for though. City Administrator, Max Baker alluded to the weather being a potential obstacle which may have resulted in the low participation rate. He said the small number of volunteers that did show were accompanied by moody weather and lower temperatures.

Due to this, the city has extended the availability of the dumpster, green waste and recycling drop off which will continue through Tues, May 27 – when collection begins. Baker reminded residents that the city’s services are closed on Mondays, but they will advertise via Facebook and the city’s official website if an employee will be there to grant access to those wishing to drop items off over the weekend…
