As a child, Jill Bartholomaus dreamed of being a published author.
Her daughters, Jessie Lake, 40, of Eugene, and Molly Johnson, 30, of West Salem, remember her always writing, and their grandfather says she used to sneak out onto the roof to write at night as a teenager.
