Eugene deploys 57 new surveillance cameras, aiding police but drawing ACLU’s criticism

Flock Safety cameras have made their way into the city of Eugene, and have already proven effective, according to police.

The cameras were used to assist a Lane County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a double homicide in Oakridge, finding suspects in a matter of minutes.

“When they asked us for assistance to locate the vehicle that was involved, we entered the data into the cameras, and within minutes, we were able to locate the vehicle and the persons of interest in the murder,” said Captain Jake Burke with the Eugene Police Department…
