Former Eugene Cahoots workers look to establish “Cahoots 2.0”

EUGENE, Ore. – Former Cahoots workers are looking to create a new mobile behavioral health crisis unit called “Willamette Valley Crisis Care.”

In a letter to Eugene’s Budget Committee on Tuesday, one of the licensed clinical social workers leading the charge, Michelle Perin, said WVCC is “lovingly referred to in the community as CAHOOTS 2.0.”

According to WVCC’s social media posts, it would cost $4.5 million to bring CAHOOTS back to Eugene at full operation, but they said the city of Eugene is only allocating $500,000 for a replacement service. The goal for WVCC is to secure that $500,000 as a first step towards bringing back a 24-hour mobile service.

Perin’s letter details the planned structure for the non-profit, including how it would bring back critical mobile services. The letter also described funding, noting fiscal sponsorships and consulting contracts to providers interested similar models…
