Teen charged in hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian

EUGENE, Ore. — A teenager has been charged in a February hit and run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian, according to Lane County Circuit Court documents.

Court records show that eighteen-year-old Syrus Albert Silke was charged on Tuesday with first-degree assault and failure to perform the duties of a driver to a seriously injured person.

The crash occurred just before noon on February 24 on the 2700 block of East 22nd Avenue. A 48-year-old pedestrian was found down in the roadway and was taken to the hospital. Witnesses told police the driver, later identified as Silke, had left the scene, but he eventually returned to the scene and cooperated with the investigation…
