The McKenzie Community Land Trust (MCLT) will soon start accepting applications to purchase homes in the Rose Street Neighborhood. The process will open later in June and will stay open for six weeks. A lottery for selection of qualified applicants is planned for late August.
The nonprofit’s project was designed to create affordable housing for people who live and work in the McKenzie River Valley while helping to rebuild the community after the Holiday Farm Fire.
Criteria for the first six homes are households whose primary residence will be the Rose Street Neighborhood and are below 80% of the area’s median income. Qualified applicants must also be Holiday Farm Fire fire survivors, or employed in the McKenzie River Valley, and qualify for a mortgage. As part of the land trust’s model, homebuyers who purchase a home will sign a 99-year lease for the land. Removing the cost of the land makes the home more affordable…
