Man sentenced to more than seven years for robbing woman at gunpoint

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Nickolas Friend has been sentenced to 92 months in prison following a jury’s guilty verdict on multiple charges, including robbery and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office, the charges stem from an incident on October 8, 2023, where Friend held a 64-year-old woman at gunpoint and assaulted her before stealing her car keys. The DA’s office also revealed that Friend’s brother, William Jayhugh Friend, was involved in the crime. During the incident, William threatened the victim and took her cell phone and it is believed that the brothers mistakenly identified the victim as being involved in an earlier altercation, the district attorney’s office said.
