Accused Eugene Weekly embezzler arrested again in Ohio

EUGENE, Ore. – The woman accused of embezzling more than 100-thousand dollars from the Eugene Weekly has been arrested in Ohio for a second time.

Elisha Young was booked Friday in the Franklin County, Ohio jail on a “hold for the State of Oregon.” This time, she’s expected to be extradited, after Governor Tina Kotek changed her position on the extradition. Young had been arrested early last month, but after a two-week hold, she was released when Gov. Kotek declined to pay for Young to be brought back to Oregon to face numerous theft charges. Kotek then reversed her decision, but it was too late, as Young had already been released.

Young, whose hair is colored differently in her current mugshot, has been under investigation since December of 2023, when Eugene Weekly discovered more than $100,000 had been stolen and a number of bills were left unpaid…
