SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Fourth of July is just around the corner and firework stands across Springfield are opening their stores.
With Eugene banning the use of fireworks in its city limits, these stores are seeing the ripple effects of residents going to Springfield to buy fireworks.
“They just cross the freeway to Springfield, they buy said fireworks, and they drive them back,” explains Kristy Taylor, the owner of Factory Fireworks Outlet. “There are some particular rule followers that do follow the rules and do those things and that’s great – but I would say prohibition as a whole hasn’t done much good in the city of Eugene.”…
