A Creswell mother is facing criminal charges after her 3-year-old son was found wandering barefoot in an apartment complex earlier this month during 90-degree weather, according to documents filed in Lane County Circuit Court.
Court records show that Ashley Canham was charged Wednesday with child neglect after a neighbor found her young son alone around 3:30 p.m., with red, dirty feet from walking on hot pavement for more than an hour. The child’s feet and legs had to be treated with aloe, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The affidavit said that a neighbor told deputies they attempted to knock on Canham’s door, but she did not answer as Canham was allegedly intoxicated and asleep.
