Wrong-way bicyclist cited in River Road area crash

EUGENE, Ore. – A bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle turning onto River Road was traveling the wrong way at the time of the incident on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Eugene Police Department.

EPD officials said that they responded to the vehicle versus bicyclist crash shortly after 1 p.m. on June 24 in the area of River Road and Federal Lane. A Toyota Sienna, driven by a 31-year-old woman, turned south onto River Road and collided with a 63-year-old man who was riding a gas-powered bicycle northbound in the southbound bike lane, police said. Authorities said that the Toyota’s driver stopped and provided aid to the bicyclist until medics arrived.
