Springfield man sentenced for involvement in Salem Fred Meyer shooting

A Springfield man was sentenced June 27 to five years in prison for his involvement in a 2024 shooting in a Salem Fred Meyer parking lot.

Robert Josh Jr., 64, pleaded guilty June 27 to attempt to commit a class A felony and unlawful use of a weapon. Charges of attempted murder, assault and felon in possession of a firearm were dismissed.

His step-son, Jamie Eugene Thomason, 31, pleaded guilty in January to attempt to commit a class A felony and felon in possession of a firearm for his involvement in the shooting, and was also sentenced to five years in prison…
