EUGENE, Ore. – A record amount of illegal fireworks were turned in during this year’s Fireworks Amnesty Days in Eugene, according to the Eugene Police Department.
According to the Metro Explosives Disposal Unit, about 350 pounds of fireworks were collected, marking the most ever turned in during the amnesty event. Drop-offs occurred on July 2 and July 5 at Second Avenue and Chambers Street, surpassing last year’s total of 264 pounds.
