McKenzie River trails closed weekdays starting July 16 for fish habitat work

MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. – Restoration efforts will close the southern access to Blue Pool on weekdays from July 16 to July 30, according to U.S. Forest Service officials.

According to the Eugene Water and Electric Board, this closure is necessary for a habitat restoration project in the McKenzie River, involving helicopters and heavy machinery. The Blue Pool – Tamolitch Falls Trailhead will remain open on weekends during this period. Visitors can access Blue Pool from the north via the McKenzie River National Scenic Trail. Nearby open trailheads include Koosah Falls and Sahalie Falls Day Use areas, though parking is limited.
