Cottage Grove police capture man after he removes ankle monitor and flees

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — The Cottage Grove Police Department was notified Wednesday by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office that Fernando G. Rodas Martin had been released from jail and was required to wear an ankle monitor.

But around 1:50 a.m., officers were contacted again and advised that Rodas Martin had removed the ankle monitor and they were given a location where he was last known to be. Officers attempted to locate Rodas Martin but were unsuccessful. They did locate and recover the damaged ankle monitor.

Around 4:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in progress in the 500 block of E. Madison in Cottage Grove. As officers arrived on scene, the suspect, later identified as Rodas Martin, fled on foot…
