EUGENE, Ore. – Saint Vincent de Paul is preparing to open its cooling centers in response to the extreme heat forecasted for Lane County. The nonprofit organization is working closely with county and city officials to determine the best time to activate these centers.
Staff at Saint Vincent de Paul plan to open the centers this week. The decision to open will depend on when temperatures become dangerously high. The centers will remain open longer if the temperature reaches 98 degrees and does not drop below 60 degrees at night.
