Oregon Country Fair weekend: 57 citations issued but safer driving noted, deputies say

VENETA, Ore. – The Oregon Country Fair weekend saw a successful event with enhanced safety efforts, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies issued 57 citations, including 20 for speeding and nine for seatbelt violations. However, deputies made three arrests related to the fair. Elijah David Russo, 31, of Elmira, was arrested for filming in a shower area at the fairgrounds, facing charges of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse and Invasion of Personal Privacy. Katie Lynne Kartak, 39, of Washington, was arrested for assault at Zumwalt County Park. She was also charged with Assault on a Public Safety Officer after injuring a deputy during booking. Alic Ben Martinez, 31, of Eugene, was arrested for a warrant related to a DUI charge after being found driving poorly near Elmira.
