Man pleads not guilty to shooting wife

A Lorane man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of his wife.

Ralph William McSperitt, 56, entered the plea on Friday, July 25, in Lane County Circuit Court. McSperitt also pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, according to court records.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office arrested McSperitt on July 17 at 12:30 a.m. in front of the Lane County Jail, about six hours after deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 28600 block of West Hill Road, east of Lorane and about 20 miles southwest of Eugene…
