Jasper barn fire halted before spreading to nearby homes

JASPER, Ore. – A barn fire on Hills Creek Road was swiftly handled by Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire & Rescue on Tuesday afternoon with assistance from several neighboring fire departments.

According to Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire & Rescue, the fire was first reported on July 29 at 4:30 p.m., prompting a rapid response from local crews and mutual aid from South Lane County Fire & Rescue and Lowell Fire District. Firefighters arrived to find the barn engulfed in flames and spreading to nearby grass. Their aggressive efforts stopped the fire from reaching nearby properties. The Oregon Department of Forestry – South Cascade District helped contain the spreading vegetation fire. No injuries were reported and all animals escaped safely.
