Rain in forecast for Eugene, Central Coast with heat wave incoming

Local forecasts are showing rain in store on Wednesday and a heat wave starting early next week. Here’s what you need to know about the incoming weather.

Is it going to rain in Eugene on Wednesday?

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a chance of “widespread wetting rain,” from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The last time Eugene got measurable rain was on June 21, when the area got half an inch of precipitation. On Thursday, atmospheric pressure is expected to build, bringing warm and dry weather through the end of the week.

Meteorologist Jon Liu said rain in Eugene may begin anywhere from 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Sporadic rain could last as late as Thursday at 5 a.m.

How much rain will Eugene get on Wednesday?

Northern parts of the Pacific Northwest are set for more rain, as areas around Mount St. Helens have a greater than 50% chance of getting more than half an inch of rain from this system. Farther south, less rain is expected.

Folks in the Central Oregon Coast and Central Willamette Valley can expect to see around 0.1 inches of rain. Around 0.05 inches or less is expected in the southern Willamette Valley.
