COTTAGE GROVE, OR (UPDATE: August 12, 2025) — Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue continues to investigate Herbert Elroy Stout’s disappearance. Stout may have walked away from the area or hitchhiked. Deputies have alerted police jurisdictions where he may be headed.
Cottage Grove area residents with security cameras in the following areas are asked to check their recordings for video of Stout on August 8th from 9:00 a.m. to the evening:
- Raisor Road
- London Road
- Weyerhaeuser Road
- Cottage Grove Reservoir Road
- S. 6th Street
Stout would likely be walking with a cane, in addition to the description below.
