EWEB lawsuit dismissed, paving way for salmon and trout transport on McKenzie River

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) is in the clear after a lawsuit accusing the utility company of violating the Endangered Species Act is dismissed.

Now, the process of transporting salmon and trout through a catch and haul system on the McKenzie River can begin.

“For our part, we’re grateful for the ruling from the court,” says EWEB spokesperson Aaron Orlowski. “We feel that it clears the way for EWEB to now begin working swiftly on implementing these permanent fish facilities at Trail Bridge Dam, so we’re glad to be able to move forward on that now that we have this case dismissed.”…
