Eugene reservoir upgrade ensures community water safety

EUGENE, Ore. – A major construction project is underway in Eugene to replace the aging storage tanks at the College Hill Reservoir. The new 15-million-gallon tanks are currently being built to modernize the city’s water supply infrastructure.

The College Hill Reservoir, which served the community for 85 years, was closed to the public on July 8, 2024. EWEB stated that the old tanks had reached the end of their service life and did not meet current seismic safety standards.

“The tanks provide the community of Eugene with drinking water, fire suppression water, and emergency storage…,” said Laura Farthing, EWEB’s principal engineer. “They’re critical to protecting the health of the entire community.”…
