LANE COUNTY, Ore. — Keeping tabs on the Emigrant Fire burning in southern Lane County, the fire is now estimated to have burned 6-thousand acres. The fire is located in a remote area, three miles southwest of the Indigo Springs Campground; right near the Lane/Douglas County line.
The US Forest Service (USFS) says the fire grew due to sustained hot and dry conditions.
High instability and outflow winds from thunderstorms, including gusts up to 40 mph, are forecasted over the fire area.
With thunderstorms and unstable weather conditions a Red Flag Warning is in effect for the area.
