EUGENE, Ore. – An early morning dispute at a residence on West 3rd Avenue led to the arrest on Friday of a man with a history of legal troubles, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said that officers were dispatched at 3:23 a.m. on Sept. 5 following a 911 call with a man and woman yelling on an open line at a West 3rd Avenue home. Police said they responded urgently due to a previous history of calls to the residence.
Matthew Ryan Pyle, 39, was arrested after a standoff involving the Eugene Police Crisis Negotiation Team, SWAT, drones, and K9 units. He was wanted for violating a restraining order and was charged with Assault in the Fourth Degree under the Abuse Prevention Act. Police said that Pyle initially refused to exit the property, prompting a search of the area. He was eventually found in a trailer and taken into custody at 7:17 a.m. without incident.
