New beginnings for Eugene’s MLK Park with grand reopening event

EUGENE, Ore. – A grand reopening is set for Saturday at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Eugene. The park, once plagued by illicit activities and homelessness, has undergone significant renovations.

Residents previously reported issues in the park, including drug use, drinking, and other inappropriate behaviors. The park’s transformation now includes a new playground, game tables, seating, and a basketball court.

“It’s really nice park,” said Cheyenne Cesena, a resident who lives near the park. “I like taking my little dog here and walking around and enjoying the neighborhood again since it’s cleaned up.”…
