EUGENE, Ore. – A 40-year-old Eugene man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly shoving a grocery store employee to the ground while fleeing after reportedly stealing items from the store, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said they responded shortly after 7 p.m. to a reported robbery at the Winco store on Chad Drive. A suspect, identified as Denny Lane McKendrick, was identified after a detective who overhead the dispatch call at the Central Lane 911 center entered McKendrick’s license plate number into EPD’s reader system, police said. Authorities said the system alerted police to McKendrick’s vehicle location at CJ’s Deli on Division Avenue. McKendrick was seen walking away by responding officers and, when confronted, McKendrick entered a busy River Road travel lane, police said.
