Strike looms at Kaiser Permanente facilities in Oregon and Southwest Washington

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Nurses and health professionals at Kaiser Permanente facilities in Oregon and Southwest Washington announced Friday that they will go on strike in a little over 10 days unless they reach a tentative contract with Kaiser.

According to The Oregon Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals (OFNHP), which represents nearly 4,000 healthcare workers in the region, said bargaining for a new contract has been going on for months, with little progress made. Their latest contract expired on Sept. 30.

On Sept. 19, the union voted overwhelmingly to authorize the strike.
