Lane County deputies recover stolen goods in Cottage Grove, two suspects arrested

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – A string of thefts and break-ins in Lane County has led to the arrest and indictment of two Cottage Grove residents, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

LCSO officials said that 40-year-old Michael Duane Vanbrocklin and 31-year-old Dillon McQuade Praay were arrested on Aug. 30 and are facing charges for multiple offenses following a series of incidents over the summer.

LCSO officials said that the Lane County Sheriff’s Forest Patrol, working closely with the Bureau of Land Management and other agencies, began investigating after a local logging site was vandalized on June 16. Further incidents were reported in August, including thefts from logging sites and the Dorena Genetic Research Center, sheriff’s deputies said. Authorities said that, among the thefts, was a fire truck stolen on Aug. 29 that was later recovered on a remote Forest Service road in the Brice Creek area…
