EUGENE, Ore. – Hundreds of young students in Eugene and Springfield dove into an educational adventure about water this week.
Clean Water University was a field trip event backed by wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water agencies in Eugene, Springfield, and Lane County. Through tours, games, and activities, children explore the water cycle, water treatment, aquatic wildlife, pollution, and more.
“Clean Water University is an educational program put together by the city of Eugene, the city of Springfield, and the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission,” said Thomas Gray, event coordinator for Clean Water University. “It teaches fifth graders about water science, the water cycle, pollution, watersheds. And the different work that water utilities do to clean water and make sure that it is safe for everyone.”…
