Eugene man faces more charges in friend’s March shooting death

EUGENE, Ore. – Additional charges have been filed against a man accused of shooting and killing his friend in Eugene last March, according to documents filed in Lane County Circuit Court.

Kenneth John Alvord, 37, now faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the death of Justin Huser. According to a search warrant affidavit, the incident occurred at Alvord’s home on West 18th Avenue after a dispute between the two men. The affidavit states that Huser allegedly hit Alvord, and Alvord shot Huser when Huser refused to leave. Alvord subsequently called 911 to report the incident.

Initially, Alvord was charged with unlawful use of a weapon in March. However, new charges were filed in a secret indictment on Oct. 9, according to court documents…
