Salem and Eugene Police Departments Thwart Organized Burglary Ring in Willamette Valley

In a collaborative effort that reads like a crime thriller, the Salem Police Department and Eugene Police Department recently joined forces to dismantle an organized burglary ring with links across the Willamette Valley. The operation came to a climax following a residential burglary that was interrupted by the homeowner on October 9 in West Salem, which led law enforcement on a chase that culminated in the arrest of seven individuals.

According to a news release from the City of Salem, patrolling officers from the Salem Police Department responded to the burglary as mentioned earlier after the suspects had fled. These suspects appeared to be part of a burglary crew already under investigation by Eugene’s finest. With the aid of detectives from Eugene, Salem’s Felony Crimes Unit was able to tag the getaway vehicle, track down the culprits, and start piecing together the puzzle of this sprawling criminal enterprise.

The coordinated response included crime scene processing by Salem Police investigators and their Crime Lab, alongside their Eugene counterparts.
