DUII arrests in Eugene highlight weekend safety concerns

EUGENE, Ore. – Despite a lack of funding for dedicated impaired driving enforcement, Lane County sheriff’s deputies remain committed to maintaining safe roadways and arrested several drivers this past weekend for allegedly driving under the influence, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies said that, on Oct. 8, deputies responded to a report in Veneta where a driver was reportedly inhaling nitrous oxide, known as “whippets,” in a drive-through. Martin Abram Larson, 41, was arrested for DUII after being found nearby.

On Oct. 10, just before midnight, Elder Youany Roblerovalasquez, 37, was arrested for DUII after a deputy observed erratic driving on Beltline Highway in Eugene, sheriff’s officials said…
