EUGENE, Ore. – After a stretch of calm fall sunshine, Eugene and much of western Oregon are bracing for a soaking Sunday as a Pacific storm system rolls inland. The National Weather Service says rain will develop late Saturday night and continue through much of Sunday, bringing up to a quarter inch across the southern Willamette Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland, rain is expected to begin after midnight Saturday and intensify by early Sunday along the I-5 corridor, from Eugene north to Albany. Drivers should plan for slick roads, especially on Highway 126 and rural routes across Lane County. Those heading to local pumpkin patches or fall events Sunday morning should pack umbrellas and check for muddy conditions.
Showers will taper by late Sunday evening, with skies clearing again by Monday morning. Despite the wet weekend, temperatures remain mild, with highs in the low 60s and lows near 40°F.
