A powerful storm is moving through the Pacific Northwest, part of a seasonal weather pattern known as an atmospheric river — a long band of concentrated moisture. Rain and breezy conditions are expected to develop Friday, with stronger winds expected Saturday.

The forecast for Saturday calls for a 20% to 30% chance of moderate wind with gusts over 45 mph possible in places including Eugene and Springfield. The chance of high winds with gusts over 55 mph is less than 10%.
