Veneta man arrested for menacing, then re-arrested on drugs and weapons charges

EUGENE, Ore. – A 43-year-old Veneta man who was arrested and jailed last Tuesday for allegedly threatening someone at gunpoint was re-arrested Friday on drugs and weapons charges, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

LCSO officials said they began an investigation on Oct. 21 into an incident that occurred the day before. A suspect, identified as Shayne Douglas Mamer, had allegedly threatened a victim at gunpoint, sheriff’s officials said. Authorities said that, as a felon, Mamer is prohibited from owning firearms. Mamer was arrested initially for menacing but deputies found a pistol, ammunition, and over 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Mamer’s truck, authorities said. Sheriff’s deputies said that Mamer was transported to the Lane County Jail on charges including unlawful use of a weapon and possession of methamphetamine. After posting bail, Mamer was detained again on Oct. 24 in west Eugene, where deputies found additional meth in his vehicle, sheriff’s officials said.
