EUGENE, Ore. — Around 11 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 89000 block of Green Hill Road, west of Eugene, for a reported assault.
When they arrived, they learned the suspect, Michael Anthony Smith, 67, had injured and strangled a victim on the property.
