EUGENE, Ore. — Firefighters Tuesday were still working to identify the cause of a fire that broke out at Radius Recycling Monday afternoon that caused heavy smoke, shutting down traffic along Highway 99 in the Four Corners area.
“So, we have not been able to specifically identify what actually started the fire and that is very unlikely that we will. At this point it is still under investigation but it is most likely undetermined and the reason for that is, essentially the contents of the fire are components of automobiles, large appliances, things like that, because it is a recycling facility,” Eugene-Springfield Fire Deputy Chief of Operations Scott Bishop said.
