New Mentor Connect Program at Lane Community College Links Local Students with Lane County Professionals

Lane Community College (LCC) has started the Mentor Connect program. This initiative connects students with business and industry professionals in Lane County. The program is a partnership with Onward Eugene and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Its goal is to improve students’ career readiness through mentorship and hands-on learning.

The six-month pilot began with an orientation on November 4, 2025, at LCC’s Industry and Trades Education Center. It pairs 25 students with 25 local mentors. The mentors work in fields such as health, law enforcement, business, and human services. Students will have opportunities to learn about these professions and expand their professional networks.

Participants will take part in five planned activities. These include three one-on-one meetings and two career experiences, such as job shadowing or site visits. The program aims to help students build confidence and make professional connections for their future careers…
