Juanita Avila doesn’t remember how she ended up on the ground.
Avila had been driving around in her van, looking for a truck left behind by a person taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Cottage Grove the morning of Nov. 5. She had gotten a call about the arrest, woke her daughter up and went searching.
At around 5:30 a.m., Avila saw police lights in her rear window, but didn’t hear any sirens. She pulled over, expecting it was a traffic stop. Instead, she was confronted by multiple men not in uniform who asked where she was born…
