Two Mexican Nationals Charged in Oregon with Trafficking 72 Pounds of Methamphetamine

A traffic stop on I-5 led to the discovery of 72 pounds of meth, resulting in federal trafficking charges against two Mexican nationals in the U.S. illegally.

Lane County, OR. — Federal prosecutors have charged two Mexican nationals illegally present in the United States after investigators discovered 72 pounds of methamphetamine concealed inside a pickup truck traveling through Lane County.

Alejandra Diaz-Alcantar, 45, and Juan Alberto Alvarado-Gonzalez, 31, are each charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, an Oregon State Police K9 trooper stopped a white Chevrolet pickup on Interstate 5 as part of an ongoing investigation. After obtaining a search warrant, troopers discovered two duffel bags hidden beneath the rear passenger seat.
