Eugene-area travelers should not be impacted by BP pipeline leak

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene travelers will not experience any major impacts from the Olympic Pipeline leak, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Eugene Airport.

Governor Tina Kotek declared a fuel emergency Monday, following the shutdown of BP’s pipeline, allowing changes in the delivery methods of the fuel to maintain adequate fuel supply throughout Oregon.

“The pipeline leak will not impact Oregon significantly. What the emergency waiver does is allows carriers who are moving fuel due to the shutdown to be exempt from hours of service rules so that they can get that fuel where it needs to be more quickly. It only applies to trips where they are actually moving fuel for the emergency,” ODOT Public Information Officer Chris Crabbs said…
