Oregon man arrested after shots-fired call, pursuit near McCredie Hot Springs

OAKRIDGE, Ore. — A southern Oregon man was arrested early Tuesday after Lane County sheriff’s deputies said he led them on a brief pursuit following reports of gunfire during a dispute at McCredie Hot Springs.

Deputies responded to the popular hot springs, about 10 miles east of Oakridge, around 2 a.m., December 9, after receiving a report of shots fired, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said in a news release. While speaking with a witness in Oakridge, deputies saw a vehicle matching the suspect description drive past on Highway 58.

According to LCSO, a deputy attempted a traffic stop but the driver continued until pulling into an unrelated residence. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Scott Alan Benson, of Riddle, was taken into custody after what deputies described as uncooperative behavior.
