Estate of man killed by logs at Eugene rail yard sues for wrongful death

The estate of a 29-year-old man killed at a Eugene rail yard has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Coos Bay Rail Line and its owner, the public International Port of Coos Bay.

Colton Ray Brant died Nov. 1, 2024, when he was crushed by logs that spilled off a rail car that had tipped over after a derailment at the Greenhill Reload facility, according to the lawsuit filed Dec. 5 in Lane County Circuit Court.
