Lane County’s unspent $35 million from lodging tax sparks discussion on fairgrounds future

EUGENE, Ore. — The Lane County Fairgrounds says it’s working on a phased master plan to make improvements to the Lane Events Center over the next 20 years.

This plan includes developing a multi-use indoor sports facility, upgrading existing buildings, and improving green spaces and making sure the site remains accessible.

Back in 2023, the county’s Transient Lodging Tax was increased by 2% to help provide nearly $35 million to build a new stadium for the Eugene Emeralds baseball team on fairgrounds property…
