Eugene woman sentenced to nearly three years in prison for arson after brief relationship ends

EUGENE, Ore. – A woman from Eugene has been sentenced for setting a man’s home on fire after a brief romantic relationship.

Leticia Crystal Blue Ocean Datu-Strong pleaded guilty to first-degree arson and received a 34-month prison sentence. Datu-Strong, who was arrested in June, will receive credit for time served. She will also be subject to three years of post-prison supervision upon release. The incident followed a short-lived relationship between Datu-Strong and the homeowner, which ended two months before the fire.

According to court documents, Datu-Strong wanted a necklace back from the homeowner. When he offered to mail it instead of meeting in person, she allegedly refused. Records also indicate she messaged a friend before the incident, stating her intention to burn his house down…
